Seed Library · Open-pollinated only
Seed that comes true, every season.
Every edible crop worth saving in an Australian garden: when to sow it in your climate, how to grow it, how to save its seed so the next season matches this one, and where to buy a starting line. F1 hybrids are left out on purpose.

How to read this library
Three things decide whether seed comes true.
Start open-pollinated. Every variety listed here is open-pollinated (OP) or heirloom. Seed from an F1 hybrid splits into different plants in the next generation.
Stop the crossing. Each crop shows how it is pollinated, what it crosses with, and how far apart to keep varieties — or how to bag and hand-pollinate instead.
Save from enough plants. Each crop shows the fewest plants that give seed and the number to save from to keep the variety vigorous over many seasons.
The full method is in the Perpetual Seed Line Protocol. Sellers are listed under Where to buy; varieties were matched to Australian sellers' live catalogues on 1 November 2026 — stock changes, so check the packet says open-pollinated before you buy.
